I've been on the hunt for many Poaceace species that are generally considered weeds in agricultural production like Panicum spp., Digitalis spp., and other closely related species. Can anyone recommend species that would be interesting to work with?

Can anyone recommend species that would be interesting to work with? As Digitalis isn't a grass at all, perhaps this topic should be placed somewhere else? That said, s ome weeds I'm interested in...- Solanum nigrum (Black Nightshade)
- Alliaria petiolata (Garlic Mustard)
- Arctium lappa (Burdock)
- Helianthus tuberosus (Sunchoke)
- Lepdium virginicum (Peppergrass)
- Leucanthemum vulgare (Oxeye Daisey)
- Oenothera biennis (Common Evening Primrose)
- Rhaphanus spp. (some weedy & succulent beach types from CA, but no real name.)
- Silphium integrifolium (Prairie Rosinweed)
- Cenchrus longispinus (Sand Bur)
Along with some other groups that aren't exactly weeds, but aren't real food crops (yet) either...
- Dahlia spp. (Dahlia)
- Hemerocallis spp. (Daylily)
- Rubus parviflorus (Thimbleberry)
- Rosa spp. (Roses)
My view is that most any of the "edible weeds" that people talk about are interesting as targets for domestication projects.

Sorry Darren, I meant Digitaria sp. (large crabgrass). Ah, then my list condenses down to… Cenchrus longispinus (Sand Bur). The relatively large seed is what gets my attention. I figure the weedy, spiny aspects of it can be selected against while increasing the seed size further.

(among others) in my list, and several others but they are far reduced on the list of importance in regards to those that might actually provide something useful for me. I'd be willing to plant out any potential crosses you make, if you want a second site. Feel free to PM, as I have some questions for you.
