Does anyone or work with Vigna sp.? I have an interest in working with some annual legumes for short season producfion and increasing soil fertility. I've successfully grown V. unguiculata a few times in the past few years... By success I mean that a few plants matured seed for me in the available growing season in spite of the environmental conditions and habits of the farmer. They are not taking over the garden yet, but at least they managed to produce a bit of seed, so as long as it continues to produce seed, I'll continue planting it hoping that eventually it will become locally adapted.

i grow cowpeas every year, V. unguiculata. just like common beans, there's everything from bush plants to tall climbers. have had varying yields, some of them quite good.
