A few years back I found some plants at the high-tide line along the south California coast. I tasted some of the leaves and found them to have a nice sweet taste, so I saved the few seeds that were evident. I could tell the were brassicas of some sort, but it took me a few years of occasional searches to finally ID them as Cakile maritima. A couple of my photos are at: www.the-biologist-is-in.blogspot.com/2015/03/convergence-on-seaside.htmlAnyone grown the plant as a garden vegetable? It generally comes up as edible in plant databases, but I haven't found any records of people growing it as a crop. Hopefully the seeds I collected remain viable.
