Alexanders (Smyrnium olusatrum) is one of the plants that grow throughout winter. I have been trying to find different varieties for possible breeding for improvement but it is scarce or might even be non existent. Has anyone encountered a named variety of this plant?

Do you need named cultivars or just different accession for diversity ? If it is the second one, gbis.ipk-gatersleben.de/GBIS_I/ has 5 accessions available

They list some seed for sale here. www.seedaholic.com/alexanders.htmlDoesn't look like a named variety though.

Hi nicolas and fruit-snacks,
Thanks. I think since alexanders have been domesticated very early that the gene-pool has homogenized almost completely.
I might try a cross with other Smyrnium species such as S. perfoliatum perhaps.
Cheers, Cesar
